Preparing for the kid's Christmas sleepover...

If you're hosting the Christmas festivities this year, chances are you're going to need to find extra sleeping space for a number of excited brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews or grand children over the holiday period.
Help is at hand from Dreams and Wishes...with a few tips that may help prepare your home for the impending onslaught....

One...plan in advance where the kids are going to sleep...consider all rooms int he house, not just the bedrooms...the older kids may prefer to 'camp out' downstairs away from the little ones.

absolutely beautiful things
Two...Have a kid's room clear out...store unecessary toys, clothes and accessories elsewhere for a few days to allow for extra sleep space.

Three...Gather essential supplies together in one convenient place...including extra bedding, pillows, towels and toiletries.

Four...Add some low level lighting...very small guests might need a bit of nightime reassurance. Use nightlights, string lights or a dimmer switch if you've got one.

Five...Save a few Christmas decorations for the kid's rooms to create a festive feel all round the house.

Do you regularly entertain 'the masses' at Christmas?
What's you secret to a stress free sleepover?

Accessorising a kid's room with toadstools.

The mild, damp weather has certainly helped produce a bumber crop of mushrooms and toadstools around my way this year...I found these whilst out walking the dog...!

And it got me thinking about toadstool accessories for kid's rooms...after all, they are a basic requirement in most children's fairy tales...so here's what I came up with...

Lighting.....

Fabrics....

Perfect for making soft furnishings...cushions, blinds, patchwork and bunting etc....

Wall art...

Accessories...

Really loving the Anne Claire Petit 'stool' and these felt toadstools...I think they'd look lovely clustered around the leg of a white wooden cot....!

Christmas tree decorating ideas.

There's only 40 sleeps till Christmas...!
Yet again the festivities are creeping up on me and I'm still clearing up after Halloween.

Still...even though I'm not putting up decorations just yet...it's given me an excuse to find some ideas for the tree this year....well, Santa is going to need somewhere to put all the presents isn't he...!!?

Here are some faves....

Aaahhhh....

Get the kids out to see the fireworks.

It's been a big week for the little ones....first we had Halloween on Monday...and it was lovely to see all the effort that had gone into the kid's costumes...made me think of the 'trick or treat' night scenes in E.T.....!
And this weekend is Bonfire Night!

I always think of it as a Winter BBQ...hot-dogs, warming soups, sticky toffee apples and marshmallows...!

Our local authority run Fireworks display is celebrates it's 40th year this weekend...not bad, I say...

It's not too late to check with your local council for a display near you...and be sure to check out these food ideas to take with you.

And remember....stay safe!
