Less cash, more sass!...ideas for interiors on a budget

In these austere times it seems all of us are looking for ways to save money and live stylishly.

Second hand furniture shops, flea markets and car boot sales are all-the-rage as we get more creative about decorating our homes...I know my garage is currently full of projects, from an antique nursery chair to a complete pine dresser, just waiting for a TLC transformation!
Find more info in the UK Market and Fairs Directory...

You'll find lots of inspiration on the web...bespoke upcyclers, like Casper James here, before and after projects you wouldn't believe...see design sponge ...and 'How to...' information!
Look beyond the current state of sale items and imagine how you can adapt it to suit your needs...a simple coat of paint can work wonders!

Your local library is a treasure-trove of books on renovation, recycling and upcycling, paint techniques and DIY ideas...and if you're anything like me you'll have seen the 'How to' cards and leaflets at DIY stores... very useful...!

Kid's rooms are perfect for your preloved finds...slightly shabby and worn furniture...who cares if it gets an extra knock or two...retro toys and vintage fabrics all help create a comforting, lived-in feel...at a fraction of the cost of modern pieces.

If you're really struggling to see how good second-hand items can look after a revamp, treat yourself to one of the many interior books on the market...for a 'wow' factor that'll have you hooked...

Coming soon...some upcycling projects of my own...
